- Kano’s city wall was begun in the 11th century, and parts of it still stand.
- The Kurmi market has traded since the 15th century.
- The Kofar Mata dye pits are said to date from 1498.
- The Dala Inland Dry Port was commissioned on 30 January 2023.
- In the 1960s Kano’s groundnut pyramids were stacked from thousands of sacks waiting for the railway.
- Nigeria’s groundnut exports grew from 50,000 tons in 1916 to 872,000 tons in 1962–63.
- Kano’s textile factories closed one by one over two decades, hit by power costs and cheap imports.
- The railway from Lagos reached Kano in 1912.
