Did you know?
- Kaduna is the capital of Kaduna State; it was the capital of the Northern Region until 1967.
- The Kaduna refinery opened in 1980.
- The 186.5 km Abuja–Kaduna railway opened in July 2016, the first standard-gauge line in West Africa.
- The National Museum in Kaduna opened in 1975; most of its more than 8,000 objects are from the Nok culture.
- Kaduna Textiles, opened in 1957, was the first large textile mill in Nigeria.
- The Nigerian Defence Academy was founded in Kaduna on 5 February 1964.
- The fuel subsidy ended on 29 May 2023, and pump prices more than doubled.
- On 14 June 2023 the naira was floated; it fell from about ₦461 to about ₦770 to the dollar.
- Headline inflation peaked at 34.80% in December 2024; food inflation hit 40.87% in June 2024.
- Nigeria signed the Artemis Accords on 13 December 2022, one of the first two African countries to do so.
